Blur & redact
Cover what shouldn’t be seen. The tool tells you when what you’ve covered can still be read.
- Zoom and pan until a single photo pixel is big enough to see, so a box lands on the plate and not beside it.
- A warning the moment you draw: pixelation or blur that’s fine next to the letters under it can be reversed. The tool measures that and says so.
- Change your mind after you draw: tap an area and its strength, effect and warning change live, on the photo. Each change is one undo.
- Find faces suggests where faces are, with a detector that runs on your device. It only suggests — nothing is covered until you say so, and it can miss faces.
- Find text to hide reads a screenshot on your device and suggests boxes for email addresses, phone, card and account numbers, street addresses, licence plates, postal codes and @handles — and any name you type. Text is covered with a solid block.
- What you see is what you save: the preview and the export are painted from one definition of every effect, in photo pixels. Exports carry no metadata.
Everything on this page runs on your device. Nothing you drop here is uploaded.
Questions
- Is blurring enough?
- For faces, usually, if the blocks are big. For text, use solid fill — pixelated text has been recovered by matching guesses against it.
- Can the original be recovered from my file?
- No. Covered pixels are replaced before export; nothing of the original region is kept.
- Is my photo sent anywhere to find faces?
- No. The face finder is downloaded from this site the first time you press Find faces, and runs in this page. Your photo never leaves it.
